Basil, looks bad

Hello all,

My Basil plant looks sad. It is not at all bushy. The top part of it looks good, nice green color, but the bottom of it looks like its just sitting on sticks, it is completely bare at the bottom (all 3 stalks). What am I doing wrong? I hardly ever water my plants since they're all outdoors and have been getting plenty rain. The basil is not at all yellow, just, bare. Can I fix her?

A picture would be great. We can't really say much of use without one.

Where I live, it's the end of the season and the basil is pretty much done.

Do you grow basil year round?

I'm in South FL, i've had this specific plant for about 2 or 3 years. She never dies, but right now she looks so unhappy. She looks like she's standing on a stick with a bit of a bush at the top. She use to be full! You couldnt see her stems that much before.
