How can I remove a stuck showerhead?

How can I remove an old showerhead that seems to be stuck with that whitish stuff that builds up over time. I've tried pliers but it is too hard and stuck.

    Unfortunately, stubborn pipes can be tricky. Try
    spraying the threads with penetrating oil like Liquid Wrench. Let the oil soak
    in and then try removing the showerhead with a pipe wrench. That should do it,
    but if not, the last resort is to heat the pipe with a torch and try again.
