Where and how large is the TV?

and size of the room? are you wanting soft or glam?

TV is 55" and we would like to put it above the fireplace. The room is 16x16 and I'm looking for soft meets a little glam but not too much. Kind of like this picture below.

ok, great, but unless those floors are spotless and there are no fuzzy or human kids, i would not put those color pillows down. And the lamps in the window are nice looking, but just silly in a window. Talk about staging.

you know that chandelier is just a white shade covered in like some crinoline or other see through fabric. You can hack that and maybe even one up.

i don't know your budget, i heard and checked on a place called home reserve online? very reasonable, and some people are still using them 10 years later. also a place called Bauq online top 10 sofas for under $1000. they are a reviewer.

think about what you need in the room and let us know? desk, entertainment center?

I would float sectional with a 9x12 rug....one side facing fireplace, the other facing window.

Whatever you do...Don't put curtains on those windows. You have natural art right there! Beautiful! Bring those colors inside with accessories.

What room are you taking the picture from? Typically I would say a couch and 2 chairs facing each other with a coffee table between them. Maybe a small table between the chairs all on a nice Persian rug. The only issue is you are blocking your fantastic view! Also it isn't the the most comfortable way to watch TV.

I agree with Teresa, but make sure the sectional is elevated on legs to keep the light and airy feel. If you do a couch low to the ground it will look to big and heavy.

The other option is to do a couch with a chaise facing the fireplace. Then it won't block the view of the window as much.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I think we want to do a sectional with a chaise facing the fireplace. Should the chaise be on the right or left side? I like the idea of having it be on legs to keep the place airy and yes we will definitely need a large rug. Does anyone have specific sectionals we should look at? Also, I don't want to cover the window with curtains but my boyfriend is pretty adamant on window treatments of some sort to block the light on some days. Do you guys have suggestions for window treatments we can do without taking away from the character?

I would discourage you from getting a chaise on your sectional and say go with 2 sofasfacing each other and 2 chairs facing the T.V and fireplace with a big ottoman in the center for feet and a tray for drinks I love the window but do agree some sort of light blocking for the T.V is probably necessary is there enough space to run a simple rod above window and some awesome drapes with grommets to make closing and opening easy and the drapes can be pulled right out of the window space when not needed.

We were thinking this day bed could look nice infront of the window and then do a couch and chair on other side all facing the fireplace. This daybed is out of our budget though : (

erica, i will not repost, but I do have an idea book-desks tables footstools. I put the benches in there they are on sale $140> and they are fabulous, so go look and get thee to overstock!

The viewing angle of the T.V. above the fireplace looks too high for comfortable extended viewing so hopefully you're just planning on light T.V. watching in the room.
