I'm glad you stuck with it. It was well worth it!! I pulled out an old lottery set of squares and am trying to get them assembled so I can finish that top.

Oh that is gorgeous!!! (in 2010, I think I had written sewing off my entire list period! ..yep, life changes!). I think that is a GREAT idea to have the Christmas Lotto blocks!!.... maybe we could do that again???? I may have missed in the previous posts, but what is the name of that block?? Did it come from Quilters Cache??

A Christmas block lotto would be fun again! I'm sure we all have fabric to stitch into squares - a no-brainer for some, I'm sure. I don't know the name of the block. Someone had suggested how to cut the squares and I tried it and liked it. If there is a name, I'd like to know it too.

I think it is a disappearing four patch. Easy to do and an effective pattern.

It is a disappearing 4 patch. In the tutorial, they use 5" squares, so you end with a smaller block. Carol, what was the unfinished size were the Christmas blocks you received?

Here is a link to the original post (even though it is titled 2011). It looks like we just sent in 4 patch's and people could cut as they wanted. Someone included a link for a stack and slice option.Lotto 2010

I watched the tutorial and she made it so much easier to do! Since the 4 patch was larger I cut it 1 1/4" away. The 4 squares were 7 1/2" each and when sewn all together measured about 14 1/2".

OMG...so, I just watched the tutorial!! THANK you all for sharing thoughts and ideas. I can tell you that I know I'll be making up a few of these blocks in Christmas fabric VERY soon!
