Ceiling fan advice

It appears that our bedroom ceiling fan is on the fritz and likely needs to be replaced. This room is next on our list to remodel but it looks like we'll have to replace the fan before that can happen. The ceilings are normal 8-ft. height. The ceiling has a beam across it dividing the room approximately in half because at one point an addition was added to the original structure, so the fan is in the middle of one half, not centered in the room. The room isn't huge - approximately 11'x15'. The fan is also currently the only light source in that half of the room. The current fan is very similar to this: http://www.menards.com/main/lighting-fans/kitchen-lighting-ceiling-fans/residential-fans/turn-of-the-century-eros-42in-antique-brass-ceiling-fan/p-2049638-c-14295.htm?tid=3639424422671912435. It is shiny brass housing, wood-finish blades, and the globe is a clear glass dome open on the bottom. We aren't in love with that design and are looking for suggestions. My husband would also like something with a lower profile because he is fairly tall and hits the globe if he's not careful while getting dressed. He wondered this morning if they made fans with flush LEDs rather than globes (and I'm hoping the price isn't outrageous).

We do need a fan in that room, as we heat primarily with a wood stove in the winter. I'm not up on all of the types of design but I'd say our house is definitely more traditional or rustic and definitely not modern. This is a great opportunity to pick something nicer than what we have, but we're kind of "deer in headlights" when it comes to design. Any suggestions?
