How long did painting take? What color original?

Nothing you do will work. Besides the fact that it probably won't stick very well in the long term, paint is not a durable material for a countertop. But you could certainly apply tile over it and that would be durable.

My original cabinets were a honey oak stain. Very dated looking and made the kitchen dark. It required 4 coats for a solid cover.

Better to live with what you have and save for update!

Hi, recently I had great success with painting a really tired and ugly green Formica bench top with Gianni granite counter top paint. It's not too expensive and will get you though until you want to update your counter top

Good luck on counter top....I noticed your light over table..it is wrong size and shape for the cute little table...are you planning on switching it out?

I don't see anything wrong with the counters I would add hardware, change out the yellow pendant and add a valance to the window.

Actually I did add hardware but the light is new and I love the look of it.

Thank you all for your suggestions. Remodeling a kitchen is expensive. One step at a time. Obviously I need new appliances. That will be my next step, then new counters. I want to place a bar counter where my half wall is between the kitchen and living room.

So I wanted to post my final updates to my kitchen.
