I was thinking of a murphy bed in our multi purpose room (currently has a treadmill and toys in it) but I am concerned it may be dangerous with kids. what if they try to pull it down themselves?

I think they are balanced for weight and to avoid crashing down.

This bed is built in as most are. The small "boxes" you see while it's in the up position are the unlock mechanism that releases the bed and allows it come down. A feature like this would make it ideal for kids :)

Yes, the shades come off and are stored in the bottom drawer of the dresser (I had them made to fit the shades). The lamps are swing arms and fold back close-to-flush on the wall :)

We have a similar set up and LOVE it. Bed in this system is so easy to put and down and guests sleep in a real bed.

I love how you made sure that when the murphy bed is down it actually looks like a bedroom with the lamps.

Sent this pic to my wife who basically dismissed the whole beautiful set up by saying, "I don't like murphy beds because they are uncomfortable." Is this even true? This would be perfect for my daughter's bedroom.

A Murphy bed is basically a platform bed. You won't need a box spring. If the base is well constructed, they are awesome.

I don't know how old your daughter is but if she still lives at home, this may not be the best option. Spending the extra money for a bed that will be in the down position doesn't make sense.

She's four and her room is perfect for her...for now. We plan on living in this home for a LONG time and I can see this room being tight as she gets older. The murphy bed option just seems so versatile and ideal given our situation.
