Are you quilting this weekend? Dec. 5-6

I had another busy week. Jeff's family went home on Monday and we watched Sami on Tues. and Thurs. as we always do. I needed to finish the Zelda quilt because the recipient will be here next week. I quilted it and made and attached the binding today. The quilting gave me fits. The thread broke repeatedly until I was about half way done with it. I finally discovered that the thread was twisting from the spool to the tension guides. After I solved that problem I had no thread breaks.

Saturday morning we plan to go with Sami to see Santa then home to hand stitch the binding on Zelda. When that is finished I will work on the Mystery quilt clues.

Are you quilting or sewing this weekend?

I have the fabrics for the Jan. Lotto block sitting next to the machine. If all goes well, they will get done today.

I want to finish up the heart pillows made with the chenille Katie had given me. I've made about 10 in various sizes but I think I might need a few more medium sized. Also want to get fabric cut for more pillowcases....think I need at least 8 more.

There is an almost uncontrollable itch to make another (or a few??) disappearing 4 patch using Christmas Fabric! I think a couple of them together (Starting with a 9 or 10" patch) might work up to make a great table runner! hmmmmm Maybe if I dust one room and run a load or two of laundry, I won't feel quite so guilty??

Beth, you MUST make more D9P! LOL Laundry is a great chore to do while sewing. My first load is in the wash now...

We have our concerts at church this weekend - two this evening and one tomorrow. I will be working on the mystery quilt with the rest of my time.

We're in Denver this weekend visiting kids and grandkids. Had a great time yesterday with our little boys, 1 1/2 and 3, decorating the Christmas tree and just hanging around. I get such a kick out of hearing them call me "Gramma Loie" in their sweet little voices. Dinner tonight and breakfast tomorrow with extended family and then back home Sunday afternoon. I do get to deliver a tree skirt that I made for my stepdaughter's birthday. That's the closest "quilty" thing I've got going.

I hope to finish the tee shirt quilt this weekend. The grands are here this weekend so it may have to wait till Sunday.

Just finished the Jan. blocks. My seam ripper worked overtime today. I just could Not wrap my head around the placement of the units. I hope this is not a sign for upcoming blocks.

Of course, I was in a crabby mood to start so that didn't help. Going to have a little lie-down now and clear my head.

Working on some Christmas table runners. Trying to get some fabric for the January lotto - what is 1930s fabric? Been doing searches and not finding much, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Theresa, I am sorry you are having a time with that block! Also - love the table runners!

Carolnv - 1930s fabrics are little prints. If you just google 1930s fabrics and look at "Images" you will see lots of different prints that considered 1930s. Most quilt shops sell them in fat quarters.

We helped with a dog-rescue run today - we picked up 2 dogs in Cheyenne, WY and transported them to Denver. By tomorrow afternoon they will be at their "fur-ever" home in Arizona! I am in charge of organizing a "mystery quilt" for our little quilt group and I am testing the pattern. It is similar to the Cozy Quilt Designs "Hanging Gardens" pattern. I like it and was able to piece 14 blocks last night! I have 4 more to do for a twin size. I need to then figure out the fabric requirements for smaller sizes since a few want to make little quilts and get that all sorted out for our meeting next week. Think I will be busy!

I intended to get the Bonnie Hunter 2nd clue completed today but we noticed my dog's eye was swelled and then it started oozing between his eye and his ear. We went to the emergency vet and it was determined he had gotten snake bitten. The vet thinks it was a copperhead. There was lots of infection and swelling, so she says it happened a couple days ago. She lanced the area, irrigated and put in a drain tube to be left in for 4 days and gave him lots of meds. He looks like he has been in a bar fight with the bruised shaved head...then he has to wear the lamp shade thing too. Needless to say, nothing got done in the sewing room. My husband and I will probably sleep in shifts since the dog goes nuts when he wakes up and finds the lamp shade on his head.

I am almost done with BH second step. Have lots of small Xmas projects but won't be doing any hands on quilting for a bit. Life tends to get in the way. Will post one new project separately tomorrow I hope.

This morning we went with the kids to see Santa and then I put up the tree but didn't decorate it yet. I finished binding the Zelda quilt this evening. I worked on it all afternoon except for a quick run to the pharmacy. It still needs a label and I will do that tomorrow. I did start cutting the second step of BH. I want to work on that tomorrow too.

Jackie, I hope your dog is better. What we won't do for our doggies! Our last dog had knee surgery twice.

Oh, Jackie! I hope your doggie is better really soon.

Theresa, I hope you have a better day today.

I just finished cutting all of the mystery pieces, will start sewing as soon as I finish my cereal.

Jackie, so sorry to hear about your dog. Yes, it is amazing what we'll do for our furry and feathered loved ones. Hope he's better soon.

Didn't get in the sewing room yesterday, hoping to today, if DH doesn't need help putting outside lights up!

Much better day today, thanks Donna.

am working on another Lotto block and it is going together the way it should.

    How were the concerts?

Sometimes the best laid plans go awry! No disappearing 4 patch...very little laundry (but some!). So, if you are supposed to be decorating for Christmas, it counts if you have Christmas fabric all over the dining room, correct??? Here's what I ended up doing:

    Now that is cute!

That is so cute! Where did you get the idea?

Thanks...it was fun, too! A picture came rolling across my Facebook page - not sure where it was from. I followed the link - obviously NOT in English. I got a weak translation so kinda 'winged' it. Mine, I think, is a bit too big. I started with a 3" or 3.5 center block and used 2" strips. the pattern makes 2 Santas; think I'd make another set smaller. CUTE and fun, tho...very, very easy - even for me! :)

    Beth, that's cute!

The concerts went really well. I'm tired, though...it's hard work being in the orchestra! Especially with two instruments. :)

Beth, the Santa hanger is so cute! I am going to make a couple of those for gifts! When I went to the page my computer asked if you want to "translate the page" and it did pretty good so I am anxious to give it a try! Thanks for sharing!

Beth, thanks for the link and Sue the hint to translate. I so want to try this. So cute!

If you use Google Chrome, it will give you the translation prompt. It's 'okay', but I'm so not used to 'carving' or 'slicing' my fabrics!! LOL... Better than NO translation! Hint: follow the pictures!! ;) (another hint: starting with a 3.5" square for the 'flesh' in the center, mine turned out REALLY BIG....25" from the tip of the cap to the bottom!) he IS cute, tho.

Beth, that is very true! Isn't it fun to see how other countries interpret our language?! :)

Beth I love your Santa. I haven't done one Christmassy thing yet or does cleaning the living room so we can put the tree up count? I am making my daughter a cat quilt. The cats are paper pieced and giving me lots of grief..I don't work well in reverse and there are 12 of them. I hope to have the top together in another day. I will try posting a picture when I get it done.
