can i mix texture and smooth walls?

We are building a new home and I love smooth walls, but with 2 kids I am concerned about it showing dents, scracthes or dings easily. Would it be weird if I did some parts of the house smooth and others (like the bedrooms) in orange peel? Or what would your suggestions be?

I detest textured walls and they will get dinged just like smooth but be twice as hard to repair.

if its not built yet def go all smooth, as smooth matches smooth but repaired texture sticks out like crazy.
