Looking great so far - Lots of options :)

I am assuming you will be adding recessed lightning? The last thing you want is to get too busy with too fixtures. I would probably installed recessed over the center island and get a few showpiece pendants for the main island. Not necessarily this style pendant since you want more rustic but just to give you and idea on layout

For a soft/rustic touch a pair of these might be an option: Morrison Chandelier

A pair of lantern pendants is another option:

This Morrison semi-flush fixture could be an accent over the small island - depending what pendants you use. Matchy-matchy is NOT needed - just share similar elements.

Just make sure you have adequate lighting (i.e. recessed) throughout. :)

I don’t see any pot lights anywhere except a couple in DR I am not sure how this is working the lighting boxes should have been installed by now and just be waiting for fixtures . I have some other issues with the actual design , did you actually choose to have a zillion corbels on the island they look awful to me there are some really grat granite supports avaiable so that when you sit on a stool you don’t whack your knee on a corbel and IMHO the tiny little island in the center would make me crazy. As for the lighting above the island I would decide on chandalier for DR and then the pendants for over the island.

Our recessed lighting will be added soon. (We are using remodel cans so they will be perfectly in line with the cabinets etc...)

Love the idea of the lantern lights. Wondering how many? I'm not sure 2 or 3 would be enough light... But you bring up a great point Whispar Design about not having too many fixtures. Would 3 be sufficient? Any recommendation on size?

I think your layout is lovely and I would get lots of use out of a little island in the middle :)

The island is too large to have pendants. It would be an upside down forest. It also would detract from the hood as the focal point that it should be.

That little barrier island has to go. No one wants to play ring around the rosy to make dinner. You'll constantly whacking your hip on it and it doesn't work with aging in place clearances needed for a home that you plan to stay in and not move to assisted care.

Those least expensive corbels in the catalog also have to go. You need invisible steel supports. They aren't any more expensive and will look a ton better.

Maybe something in a brushed nickel with a glass shade?

I think you would need at least 3 pendants to correctly fill the space over the peninsula. It's going to be a beautiful kitchen!

I was thinking the same thing, ritasj! Poster clearly just spent a lot of money on this kitchen and wasn't soliciting opinions on the brand new cabinetry.

Can you take a photo of the kitchen from the angle of the photo I posted above? I can then make a few renderings with some different options so you can see what it might look like. Visual is everything :)

Katinparadise: Those are beautiful! I even more like the idea of a clear glass shade.

Tedbixby: I do love the glass pendants! I also really light the brushed nickel glass lantern lights.

I love the lanterns and clear glass shades. (Lanterns are warm and cozy...glass shades seemed more versatile though) One concern in using pendants are conversation barriers. If several people stand around the big island--- will these beautiful pendants be a conversation barrier?

My inclination is along the line of Whispar's first comment -- I'd either hang two slim pendants over each "wing" of the larger island (with a can over the small island) or one large pendant in each place. Agree that you don't want a wall of pendants, or it will look less like accent lighting and more like a beaded curtain. :))

I like your first and last photos, depending on whether you go with the two or four light option.

All these pendants are shown on very high ceilings...check manufacturer for sizes available..sizing down may also remove the worry of being a conservation barrier..the lanterns are beautiful..the smaller ones don't seem special enough for your kitchen
