When I saw the space, the first thing I thought is to put the TV in the corner where the sofa is, and use floor-to-ceiling heavy drapes behind it. Having the windows behind the TV will prevent glare, if you have it on in the daytime, plus you'll be able to see if from the kitchen, if the kitchen space is open.

actually, if it fits, i would rather see it on the little wall to the left of the standing lamp. I would like the desk in the old dining room and a reading nook where it is now. with like a chair in a half and small table and low book shelf? for reading material, you can look out the window, maybe get a telescope? i think a rounded/oval table would be better than a rectangle.

Thanks for the input! Unfortunately the kitchen is a closed off galley style kitchen so I wouldn't be able to see the TV regardless of positioning. TV in the sofa corner has been mentioned to me a few times, but I haven't been too sure about couch placement in that case. Perhaps moving the desk too? I don't know.

Sometimes you have to physically move things around to get a different perspective. You may not like the new placement, but rearranging them, can help you see the solution.
