May I please have anyone's advice.

Could anyone be so kind to comment on this room, what is needed or needs to be removed. No hard feelings please be honest. Also note, the one thing I will not change is the wall color. I've had many colours in the past and want to work with white.
Sorry, one more thing, I added a pic of a rug that I'm thinking may go.
Thanking everyone in advance. ☺

Your color scheme is very much like mine...neutral. I prefer to add pops of colors with my accessories. I would add colorful art work, curtains, rug, pillows & a throw.

I think you are off to a good start....just add a vibrant piece of art on the wall behind your husband and a rug....the one you are thinking of is nice, but maybe tie the rug to the art. Not sure what your taste for art is but maybe an abstract piece with your favorite colors.

What other colors would you add that will compliment what is already there(gray, white, gold). I'm scared of overdoing it. ☺
Thank you for commenting by the way.

I think it looks great - Not a huge fan of the curtains though, as the colour is a little overpowering. Maybe go with a graphic pattern instead. Then add a few coordinating cushions and something for the ottoman. Maybe a basket or tray for books and remotes etc. Oh and maybe a couple of plants in the room.

I have added a few more angles to the room. I'm still not sure of the curtain myself. Another curtain will be installed on the second window.

Thank you everyone I truly appreciate it. I am so basic and new to this.

All comments are so welcome. ☺

The rug you're considering is busy, it would be a lot of pattern that you may tire of quickly. Have you considered a tone on tone rug?

The large wall needs a very large piece of art to help "balance" the large sectional.

Below, on the large wall we replaced 5 pieces of art with one piece, for a less busy look.

Check out Houzz Designer projects to get a feel for your favorite colors - which you can pull out in art and a nice throw. You'll probably notice that you're drawn to the same colors time and again.

    I hope this helps?

The room is overpowered by that sectional. But its probably too comfortable ! Im liking you rug color, wall color, even your curtain color. All seem cozy. Your lighting was the thing that stood out to me. This room needs lamp lighting to center it closer to the heart. And a picture.

I too. have a sectional sofa and would not place a sofa with it's back to the windows. The walls do not appear white in this picture, but I can understand the need for change. The drapes should be opened as far away from the window's edge as possible and the color of the drapes should be light with some sort of pattern. I like the pattern shown above, but I could never live with orange. Maybe a white and blue or white and purple design would add interest----I would make the decorative pillows much larger. A nice painting would look great over the sofa---even if you make it yourself with a fabric of the similar tones to your drapes. Finally, I would remove the end table and have a tall floor lamp instead which would allow you to move the sofa end closer to the bar. Is it possible to remove one section of the sofa to another area? Feel free to dis everything I suggested.

You need a lot of art and mirrors to bring the eye up from the sofa area. I would take the table from behind the sofa on the wall and put it in front of the window behind your sofa. Then you need several lamps. Two floor lamps and another lamp and table at the end of your sofa. Small accent tables beside the chair and sofa edge work well too. A solid rug would ground the grouping of coffee table and sofa area. A tray for the coffee table with some favorites are needed. Your drapes are not full enough. To me, you need twice as many panels as you have. Do you have blinds? If not I would add 2 inch wood blinds as well. Also add a grouping of large pictures over your TV. Really you Do Need to add a new wall color. COLOR would do more than anything else in my opinion. Gallery Taupe by Behr at Home Depot would be wonderful. It just looks cold with the white walls. Put the same color or half of this color on the ceilings. Adding a crown molding would be also nice. It is a good start but needs personality.

I would suggest light colored drapes with a touch of your gold or grey. The dark ones overpower things. A large artwork and rug also light but with a bit of grey or gold. Will try to find an example

Could you turn the sofa so the long part faces the tv? Or could the tv swap place and get moved to the wall the sofa is on and then have the long part of the sofa facing it in its new location? It seems very far from the tv and seems like if you divide this room this way you could add an nice dining spot in the newly emptied side.

I really think if the sectional stays against the window...drapes do not work...I would replace them with fabric Roman shades.

Thank you everyone. I really appreciate everyone's insight.
I was under the impression since the walls are white and the floor dark, I could get away with the curtain being so dark. I I'm so afraid of patterns and because of it my spaces always look so plain.
Unfortunately I can't move the sectional because it will cover the sliding door on the other side. If only my sectional was white or ligh gray. The color has faded but it us to be more taupe.
I must work with the sectional for now.
In reference to art, what are your thoughts of this piece? How about this rug? Again, I seem to be drawn to the same colours.
