Can you post photos? How is the trim finished in other rooms? Are there places where the trim meets between two rooms? By answering these questions you are likely to find the answer to your question.

currently we have the room open to the family room which will have columns on the side. We were thinking of doing white molding in the family room but think it will be a clash with the beige in the family room. Also don't know if i like the molding on the wall in the kitchen looking into the family room. Thoughts anyone???

I'd match the cabinet colour. It will help to tie the two spaces together.

Why not have white trim every where, a safe decision. I am biased bc we just bought a house with varying trim colors and it is very hard to match. Good luck!

We matched our kitchen cabinets to our trim throughout the house (all are off-white/ivory). It just made life easier.
