Dimensions and shape of table

In the photo of this table it appears to be rectangular, but in the description it reads 42" square. Please explain.

    meghanrovelli, when you have both leaves(leafs?) on the table the pedestal is 25 1/2 inches from the ends and 15 1/2 inches from the sides at the top of the pedestal. If you are concerned about the base of the pedestal, subtract about 5 inches from that measurement.

      Green Giraffe, I just received this table and it is rectangular when the 2 10" leaves are inserted, otherwise it is square.

      Charlie Angels, It is quite well-made. My husband loves "real" wood and doesn't believe in cutting corners and he even likes it.

      Are you able to extend the table with just one leaf if you wanted to? To make it 54" long.

      I tried that and it didn't seem steady. Since the pedestal is in the middle of the table, I think it needs either both or none.

      I'm buying the table for a banquette as well but want to make sure the table can be pushed in enough. how far in is the pedestal vs the edge of the table? Thanks!
