I've never hosted a swap before, but it sounds like fun. I just got my seeds back from the New Years swap that mcc371 hosted and it was pretty fun. Can someone please explain what all is involved? I imagine the host gathers all the packages and redistributes the swap stuff to the people they're labeled for. Is there more to it than that? It sounds pretty straight forward. Could I give it a try?

Silverdragon, what we do is even simpler than that. When you host, you think of a theme for the month, set some requirements that each package should have, whether it include just seeds, or maybe seeds, plants, and a gift, and then assign partners so that people can send their swap boxes to one another. My suggestion would be that you participate in some swaps and see how things go from there. We're currently getting out boxes together and mailing them out for the March swap, and the April swap will be announced during the first week of March, so keep watching and sign up for the April swap and join us in the fun.

That's even better! I hope to sign up for future swaps. I missed the March one by *this much* lol. I'll keep an eye out for sign ups.

Jennifer I would love to co host but I will be out of town from June 5th to the 13th and I'm afraid I wouldn't be much help.

I wish I had a crystal ball, but all I've got is some Glad Resealables. In any case, you can put me down for November. By then life should be more normal. Right? Right.

I think it's disappointing when people sign up for something and dont follow through. I was considering doing something if Linda did not, but it's now mid-Sept, and I'm overcommitted, so I will pass.

So, is it over? No September swap, no October swap; should I post one in November or is this group suspended pending the return of our fearless leader? What do you all think? I'm fine either way.

If you're up for hosting, you can post a sign up (and/or interest thread). I think w/o our fearless leader, things have gone by the wayside, and everyone got busy with their gardens and collecting seeds, etc. I'm up for a swap, if you are Poisondart depending on what we're swapping :D

On the good news side of things, I got to taste my first pixie crunch apple on my birthday! I planted my first tree 8 years ago, and it was first fruit tree ever. They're small, a good snacking size, sweet and tart, and delicious! I'm hoping for more next year so I can make a pie! I shared this first one with a couple of friends who were here for the weekend, and they all liked it too. Cool, eh?
