Window Covering question

Here are the finishes for a secondary bath. Cabinets, tub/enclosure and toilet/tub are white. Paint is BM Edgecombe Gray, wood trim is BM Swiss Coffee. Faucet hardware is Delta Brilliance Stainless. Don't know the name of the granite but it has a touch of Navy and a dark tan. Ikat fabric tall shower curtain to just above the floor.
I am thinking of going with a White (probably matching the trim color) Plantation Shutter type window covering the (28 3/4"Wx46 7/8H) window. This window in directly in front of you as you come in the door. Vanity to left with toilet next to it and a linear closet with tub enclosure on the right wall. Or would you suggest something different for the window covering? What color towels? My mind is spinning, too many decisions.

    Hi Jrhy,

I'm in the process of a very similar bath remodel and and am interested in what the folks have to say. I installed the exact same size white tile, the exact same white vanity, similar wall paint and a 12 x 24" floor tile in similar colors to you.

I am also leaning towards plantation shutters. I live in the south and they are big here but I am interested in what the folks have to say.

Your selections are great and very classic.

I love your choices so far. I wouldn't worry about towels until you're done.

I like the idea of shutters and using white towels. Use a large towel rack, so you can really get a feel of luxury...and I like to place more streamlined towels underneath and then layer with a smaller towel that is different. A linen hand towel on the counter for guests is also an appreciated touch. Another nice look is using a wooden ladder if you have room.

Here is my completed guest bath which contains similar color choices to yours. I'm working on the master bath with the same materials. My guest bath does not have a window. My master has two windows that I'm considering using the plantation blinds. As you see our materials are similar.

I really like your Delta brilliance selection. It will look great with your countertop and against the white tiles.

My thoughts are if I choose plantation blinds I can easily change colors of bath rugs, shower curtains and towels down the road for not much money.

I chose a white shower curtain as seen in second picture. In person the room is light and bright.....it looks grayer in these photos.

Thank you ALL! Brandy_9797, I am from NOLA and we love shutters both inside and out! Maureen, you spoke my language with that Fluer de Lis (though most people overdue them - one on a hand towel works!). This is a tiny bathroom - has what we need, but not much spare room, so can't do a ladder. My towels may end up in a basket on the floor at the foot of the tub with a hook on the back of the door for a spare. maggy111 that Champagne Bronze IS gorgeous but it is too late as the fixtures were due to be installed yesterday. They would have made this something special. So one more question, please. I am thinking of a large piece of art for over the commode. I am pretty sure my beveled mirror will go up to the ceiling (9'). What do y'all suggest be the largest I should go? I'm thinking of accenting with a touch of oyster shell. Either a votive or a picture frame on the vanity. (My granite reminds me of crushed oyster shells and this little house is on the water South of N.O - it's our little "fishin' camp")! Come fish, y'all!

Love all your selections....I would actually love the Ikat as a Roman shade on the window..I think it might be overpowering as a shower curtain...I would do a glass shower enclosure it is worth the money!!!
Crisp white towels with a navy border would look great!

brandy_9797. Nice neutral colors. Are your walls Revere Pewter? Looks similar to the walls in my Master Bath.

    Hi JR,

This is my first houzz post by the way.

My ceilings are 8' tall in the 5x8 bath. I wanted tall mirror. My mirror is 6-1/2 feet tall. In restrospect I wish I'd gone 7' tall. My contractor kind of won my height of mirror decision. I vote go as tall as you want to go with the mirror like 8' or 9'. Small mirrors are currently en vogue for bathrooms....the medicine cabinet looking things etc. and the oval curvy things that rotate. However I think a big mirror stands the test of time and really enlarges a small bath as well as being more practical. I'm going big with mirrors in my master bath.

I'm in north Florida. I'm considering rollup bamboo/seagrass blinds for the master bath windows as well as plantation blinds. Plantation blinds will probably win as they hold up better in the south to the sun...i.e. will last 25 years.

Did you say oysters? Who doesn't love oysters! I love the oyster votive! I prefer it to the picture frame as it is so unique. I've seen a lot of shell frames but I've never seen an oyster votive. I think the oyster votive will bring another texture to the room.

brandy_9797, don't be afraid of quality natural shades. I have had them in my present family room for 10+ years. This room gets our harsh west Texas sun! They look just like the day we installed them! I have plantations on every other window in my house - so, obviously love them as well. This little "fish camp" will have natural shades everywhere and this (1) little shutter! I love the texture of the shades!!! Good luck with your decisions!

    Hi JR,

My paint is Colorguild Studio Gray. The top paint store swatch is revere pewter and the bottom is Edgecomb Gray. I like the Edgecomb Gray against your granite.

When I rent condos at the beach....St Augustine Beach or Crescent Beach I see a lot of Ikat. I think the Ikat shower curtain will be a good splash of color and great for a fish camp house. My white shower curtain makes my bathroom read kind of stark now but it is what I'm liking after years of 1980's wall paper.

What I like about your hard surface selections is you can change your soft goods....shower curtain, bath rugs and towels out in the future. The ikat would work, white, beige, cream, and navy would all work for soft goods.

Thanks for the photos of the quality roll up shades. I'm leaning towards them now after seeing your photos and the sun shining in. My master bath is going to have a lot of white and white plantation shutters will probably be too much whereas the quality roll up shades in brown would supply good texture and color contrast.
