NEWBIE SEED PROJECT

FEBRUARY 2016

New thread for FEB 2016 requests ONLY.

If you are reading this thread and it's NOT FEB. 2016, this offer is expired (but look to see if there's one for the current month). Each month we will post a new thread if we still have seeds to offer Houzz members!

New to gardening? New to Houzz/GW? Just getting started or coming back to gardening again?

I have packets of a variety of seeds to send out to those newbies who would like them, thanks to generous donations of a number of Houzz gardeners.

TO PARTICIPATE, PLEASE READ this post in FULL, follow the rules, and read the thread for UPDATES.

  1. Post your request here and send me a Houzz message. This offer is for US only and Houzz garden members. You must message me on Houzz, no emails

Include your Houzz name AND your REAL name. I will send you my address to send your stamps, ETC

Please enable your message capability so you can receive messages. (See post below that Leila was nice enough to compile Re TECH HELP -including setting up messaging) It's a good idea to set this up so you can communicate and trade with other Houzz users.

  2. To receive a mailer of 20-30++ various types of seeds, you must send 8 “forever” stamps and a mailing label (or clearly print your name and address clearly on a piece of paper IN PEN that I can tape to the envelope). I will provide bubble mailer. $4.50 paypal available; address provided upon request

  3. Tell me if you prefer flower seeds, or veggies or a combination (in a note with your stamps). If you dont let me know, I'll just send a variety of whatever. Dont post your wants on this thread. I have a limited number of packets to send out, so keep tabs on the thread below

Use them in your garden, or if you want to trade some away - no problem. This project is to help get you started.

  4. READ this thread for UPDATES

This our our way to welcoming you to the Houzz Garden Community! We look forward to getting to know you!

Have fun and Happy Gardening!

Hello. I am very interested! I am sending you a message now.

Val, I have always wanted to seed swap, but didn't know how, or where to learn. Or, truth be told, get up the gumption to dare!

I felt like it was a secret legacy club I'd magically become a member of 'when I got old' and knew everything with a fabulous secret legacy garden, and a kitchen sink windowsill that effortlessly grew pineapples, avocado and grapefruit trees (mom did, why can't I?) from cutting board scraps to prove it!

Well, I've been reading this forum, really for the first time, and now I know better (grin). I am a long-time reader of seed saving, but I am new to doing it seriously and well myself. And yes, I am new to learning seed swapping, and this forum. As long as the supply holds, I think such a surprise in my mailbox would be fabulous!

Heather, Got your message and responded...NO secret club here...we're thrilled to have you on the Houzz/Gardenweb forums :) If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

I have also sent messages to all who have posted here to date.
So happy to have some more newbies join us!

I have a bunch of seed packets going out - Some were supposed to go out Friday but I hurt my back and was out of work last week and didnt get out, so they will go Monday as well to:

    Heather B, Tamra F, Stacy S. Kat M, and TyY D.

No worries! Take care of yourself! :) You've got to rest now, so when it's gardening season, you're good to go!

You said it, Lcgrace! So glad it's Feb, and not May!!! ;)

    Thank you!

    Thank you, Val.

Sounds like your weekend could have been longer for some good recoup.

    Lcgrace, that is just true.

And from where I dig, it seems February has turned into what might as well be May, overnight! Some seasons we have to just make ourselves simplify, or nothing will go good in the garden.

That's one thing about seed trading....I can easily imagine myself going crazy too much, too fast, too far overboard ;) :)

Lol ozark. I don't think we could ever have too much, too fast or too overboard. Welcome to seed trading! You are gonna love it as much as we do. :)

I am very excited to start a garden. Sending you a message now!

Val and donators thank you so much for the seeds!!!!! I got so many I am thrilled! I am going to mark my calendar out for when I will plant them, and soon I will post seeds I can trade. I might need a small accordion folder for all of these!

Thank you again me and the pollinators will be happy with these plants!!!

I'm interested, if it's not too late. I'm sending a message now. Thank you!

Oh, My Goodness!! Wow. Thank you, Seed Exchange-ers!

It just happens that so many of these were on company orders I was just now compiling! I (almost) can't wait to get these growing and seed collected from my own plants, not just sharing from commercial packs!

Thanks to you, too, Val, for being the catalyst.
