Yeah, I think we're missing some key information.

1) height of ceiling

2) finish of adjoining hardware (like front door knobs, etc.)

3) your overall house style -- is this tile the fanciest thing in your house, with the rest being low-key, or are you pretty ornate overall?

4) goal, other than replacing builder light -- you want simple, glitz, not to notice it?

I'm honestly surprised at how... boring your two choices are. I'd think you'd want something with a little more life to play off your lively floor, even if it's flush to the ceiling. But, as I say, missing all the framework, it's hard to say.

I also like acm's 3rd and 5th choices. I'd go with the third since you're wanting something inexpensive.

The ceiling height is 8ft in a condo. I've attached a photo pre-renovation to give you an idea. The mirrored coat closet is staying, but the wall that houses the fridge and kitchen cabinets that you can kind of see is now gone, and being replaced with a kitchen peninsula that looks out into the living room. The doors have to stay that dark wood, and the door hardware is polished brass.

I'm going for a fairly edited but cozy transitional look overall. Trying to warm up the black and white that plays off the condo's black window frames with brass and wood accents. Walls will be painted white.

Because the ceiling isn't exactly soaring, I think a chandelier is out - also my husband is 6'3" so he would probably be frustrated by a choice like that. I like the brass drum shade that Rina posted, the 3rd option from acm, and the second row options from BeverlyFLADeziner. Beverly, do you have sources for the last 3 in particular?

What about this one mounted as a flush mount? The gold inner shade might tie in with the kitchen hardware nicely? Or would this be better as a chandelier over the dining table (that will be on the other side of the entry closet).

8" ceiling are hard to work with for a dramatic entry. Dimension of the room is also a factor. If its a small foyer you probably don't want something of a large scale. I would put a big fixture in a 8 x 8 entry, but in a 4 x 4 entry, something smaller.

Im not a professional, but worked with my dad in the construction business and pick out fixtures and finishes. Lowes has some lovely options if your on a tight budget.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE that tile, and if you are covering your foyer floor with it, and am working with a bathroom now with that look. It can go either traditional or contemporary depending on your taste and the rest of your condo. A chandelier would look really awesome and dramatic, but you will need to find a flush mount with enough width to make the area look dramatic, with the challenge of the low ceiling height. Don't go small with the light, just low profile.

Below are two that I think would be dramatic. both low profile but wide enough for a smaller foyer. Would love to see your finished product.
