I want to tear out the top half of the wall dividing the kitchen and living room. There is no basement (we're on concrete slab) and it's single-story. There is no attic crawl space (post and beam midcentury construction). The wall is a couple feet off of the center peak roofline. It just seems to be a wall for the cupboards to attach to and for the refrigerator to be against and seems to be a normal thickness judging by the end of the wall that forms the dining area entry. Should we take some of the wallboard off and look for something at the bottom and top of the framing of this wall that would give us a clue?
