TV above Fireplace and Mantel.

What is the best height to have the mantle at that will have a TV installed above it? I know it is not the an ideal location for a tv, but we don't have any other options. And how much space should we give between the top of the mantel and the bottom of the tv?

The best height for a mantle has no correspondence to the best height for the TV. The first has to do with your fireplace manufacturer's requirements for distances to combustible materials and the second has to do with ergonomics of viewing. The two don't overlap.
