no up/downs are the solution. I love them, and if you look on line there are now marvelous instructions on diy with inexpensive blinds. no sewing needed. A spritz of a blast of harmless air in the face of the pup from a pet air can.......will stop that barking for under twenty dollars. One quick blast of harmless air stunned my sisters dog into "I think I will stop this ceaseless barking thing now"......and the new quiet is wonderful. She allows him a now and then quick and short two "woofs" at the sight of another dog......followed by her softly voiced "shhhhhh...." Problem solved.

Ah....not an intense Malinois, who wants to get through the window while you are busy or n the shower. I am the owner of a dog training school for 40 years. If I am in the room, I can just call him over and ask him to down next to me. He is obsessed with the idea of protecting the house every second he is awake. It is their nature...but your idea does work on non intense situations.

Hmmm, had something like that with one? we trained him to guard the door of the room i was in? I know what you mean though. It is not true that you can train everyone the same and it always works, each one is different. I had one precious little mutt, who apparently had had it really rough. Class trainer kept yelling at me, how he thought i had trained dogs? Why did i not make her sit rather than roll on her back? He was exmilitary drill sargeant i think. Anyway, he gets really close to her when he says sit, she rolls over, he yells, she pees right in his face! All i could do not to roll on the ground! lol

I knew it was a belgian! Forgot the exact breed of mine, was not accepted in the US. He was a wonderful dog though. Apparently heavily and possibly brutally trained. Second you put gloves on, he bit them til they came off!
