Your color choices are good. As far as a ceiling fixture look for one in the catagory SEMI FLUSH MOUNT.

I think you should pick your rug and pillows first. It may totally change your wall color ideas. Pyramid's semi flush mount chandy is a good idea for the look without being too low.

I know you may need a change, but I love you room the way it is. The chandelier Darzy gave for inspiration will work great. I think an area rug and drapes is all you will need to add color to your room .

Here's a photo of a medium toned grey Venetian Plaster as an option. It gives the walls an interesting texture in a classy color

Thank you njmomma. The paint in the room is from the former owner. We feel it is a bit dark so we would like to go lighter. We will also remove the light behind the headboard which was there when we bought the house also.

I think your greatest challenge is the window behind the headboard. I know you have already made a bed purchase, so it's unlikely to be changed, but it does conflict with the window. Did you ever think of a low level headboard with attached night stands? You know, those sleek units? Such a bed would have given you more width in the room - no need for tiny night tables - and it would have opened the wall up allowing you to balance the window with a mirror and/or artwork. Oh, well. Any way you can return this bed? It is a poor choice for this room, leaving you feeling like you are using a second bedroom for a master. I will attach low platform bed pics in the next post.

Notice how much bigger appears the wall in this case and how much more open is the space above the bed. It's soooo much more relaxing in a narrow space like yours. If you want an upholstered headboard, it can also be done in a platform bed. I will see if I can find it. But if not, you can even do it yourself, it very simple.

Here is an upholstered platform bed with integrated side tables. Of course yours is a smaller size room and bed, but the idea is the same. You do not need to sacrifice softness by opting for a platform bed. But you do need to sacrifice conflicting relations between the window and the headboard you currently have.

This one just seems to be made for your room. The price is so reasonable that you can afford to custom upholster it. It also shows that in a room like this you need every inch of storage you can find, which means parting with your rather wasteful of space bench at the foot of the bed. If you must have a bench it better be storage bench.

In generaly, wall color are very dark for size of this room.
Try use big mirror (4-5 feet height) and very light colors for room. And - if you can - white or light floor.

I also want to point out that the window moldings have been removed in the above example and the pictures use hardly visible frames to allow for a "connection" between the two elements. This too helps to visually enlarge the space.

A thought for the wall.
Create another faux window on the right side of the wall by adding the same molding.
Place shades on all windows. Add drapery. Not perfect. Not to scale.

If it fits can you put the bed coming off the wall to the right? It would avoid the issue of the clash with the window.

You could slide the bed to the right wall (in the middle) . The head of the bed will be in the same position as photo. Place the headboard lengthwise to the bed against the same right wall. Headboard will be narrower than the bed length. Add two art pieces on each side of the headboard to balance. Kind of like a daybed situation. If it is too awkward for you, I don't think there is another option to place your bed.

Or you can return the awkward headboard and buy a floating platform bed with integrated nightstands. Remove the moldings from the window and place art work of the same size for symmetry. This will definitely open the space up, brighten it and you won't need to place headboard sideways.

Another way to implement the solution above is to buy a low king size headboard (76") and use it for the full length of the wall like a platform bed. You will need to chose lower profile king size headboard to fit under the window. This too will give a more streamlined appearance to the wall. If you use small size night lights like the ones below that would visually free up the space too. Current lamps are too big and also too heavy in appearance for the small size bedroom.

What a great room to start with. With the right direction, it could be beautiful. What most people struggle with is where to start when you are redesigning any space, which is why I created an app called Color911. I would love to see the color and light that you chose. My question is ,can the bed be repositioned or is the room too narrow. I think that you have great taste in your bedding...you just need to keep going and I do hope that you painted the walls to the ceiling.

I am VERY late to join this discussion and I see the room has already been painted. So... I will address the offset window behind the bed. More symmetry can be achieved using a wall of draperies. In your room, floor to ceiling drapes will also add some verticality which will give the impression that the ceiling is taller than it is. This is a lovely feature in a bedroom, since it lends an added layer of softness. Can't wait to see your after picture.
