I'm wondering if anyone can recommend how to come to a bottom ledge over an overhang that has a soffit under it. I see on lap siding a jchannel showing at the end of the wall, yet some shake installs I just see the bottom of the shake at the very end of the overhang.

how does one install starter strip and shake at the very end of an overhang that will have a soffit under it with two receiving j channels holding the soffit in place.
