It's a beautiful room. Even taking the wide-angle pic into account, it looks to me as though you might have enough space to place a three-seater lounger at an angle towards the TV. I think that would be a better solution (if it's possible) than trying to place both a sofa and a reclining chair in a position for comfortable viewing. Then you could have an armchair or even perhaps a love seat at right angles to it on the window side, and another armchair on the left, angled in toward the armchair/love seat. Sorry, I found the one on the left too tricky to sketch in.

I hunted for a leather recliner sofa that didn't have what I think of as fat rolls, and yay, they are out there. This Barcalounger seems to be widely available. I think it could work well with shabby chic.

I believe Ethan Allen has a leather L-shaped (or U-shaped) sofa that hides the pull-out lounger.

Thank you for your comments! Would doing a U shaped sectional with two chaise ends close off the room completely? I really like this sofa, but the smallest I could get it would be 145 inches wide and the room is only 17 feet wide or 204 inches.

Thats too big . This seems like a large home do you not have another space like a family room for the T.V the only other space I can see for it is to the right of the fireplace and this will make it very awkward to arrange furniture. Maybe the TV mounted on an arm that pulls out and allows the T,V to swivel . then furniture arranged so that a sofa faces the fireplace and 2 chairs to the left of the sofa. I would not get a recliner sofa IMO they are all ugly unless you spend the money on Stressless furniture the chairs could be streamlined recliners .

We had a similar dilemma and went for the pull out, rotating, angling mount for our 65" plasma tv. Worth every penny. We floated the furniture and set the room up for conversation. Can be see from both couches and if watching TV is all we are doing we can easily move the chairs to face it and put them back when done. Use foot stools that can be stored along the wall for extra seating and to recline when sitting in chairs.

Also, we are not fussy people. While I Wanted the look of Carrara Marble I wanted no maintenance, no staining and no scratching. This is Viatera Rococo Quartz. Love the depth and movement! And definitely no fuss!

Gosh!! It is DREAMY!! We are actually shopping for land right now! In fact my parents will possibly be making a decision and an offer today! We are going to build a craftsman style home, with an interior much like yours! This certainly will give my mom some great ideas!! Thrilled to hear the advice on the marble by the way! My mom LOVES Carrara marble, but we cook big southern meals, so the grease and everything would not be the best for it, so she wants a quartz alternative! I'll tell her the name of this stuff, because it's flawless! I love all the woodwork in your home! We are going to do the same thing! The look of the chunky white banister and chunky craftsman trim is what we LOVE. But seriously, this is a magazine worthy home.

Chesspce1, everything from the couches to the lit upper cabinets is my mom's style, and mine too! We are wanting to have couches that are gorgeous and warm and welcoming, while still being super comfortable and functional. We are all about a home that people feel welcome and warm when they enter but to still be as dreamy as possible, as opposed to impressed and intimidated. That is EXACTLY what your home gives off. Even the pillows!! Gosh I am just too in love.

I was just looking at your idea books as well Chesspce1, and you are right! Your style is pretty much identical to my style!!

Choose some furniture you love first, then the rug (if you want one) then worry about everything else. I love chesterfields too but I know from experience they are not lounging sofas. If there will be a tv in this room, I would skip the chesterfields for living and use them in formal sitting or an office area.

I found a sectional with recliner that isn't bulky and ugly. (And no cupholders! LOL)

They do exist. This has an electric recliner on each end. DH loves it.

I think you have a few seating options and layouts and maybe working with an on line planner will help. I would stay away from wing backs, as they are not as comfortable as other styles. I think the sectional you show is too modern (and long). Maybe going with a distressed leather that feels comfy and casual may suit a shabby chic look a bit better and with a lounge section, your husband may love that spot or look for a comfy chair and use an ottoman. Restoration Hardware has a large selection of leather couches and because the offer different configurations, sizes, depths and colors it may be easier to find what you are looking for.
