Hi Brian, this kitchen is approximately 8'-9" wide. We did remove a wall between the kitchen and the dining room, as well as another wall at the back of the kitchen that led to a laundry room. By incorporating the laundry into the kitchen cabinets, we were able to open the kitchen to the backyard. We worked with the contractor to fabricate the beam you see in this photo. It matches the detailing on some of the original beams throughout the house.
