Green is a wonderful kitchen cabinet color with wood. The trick is picking one that is truly a mid tone - not too light and not too dark. It will add a ton of light to your space and the rest of the wood / black island will still work. You of course might choose to paint the black island one shade deeper green than the surrounding cabinets.

When you look for paint options - look for camoflauge green type tones - brown greens and in the 30's Light Reflective Value wise .. .LRV. . .the wood is much darker in LRV and the mid tones will make your counters look light .. test the paint chips against the tops - they need to provide contrast but be in the right color family.
