My husband and I are looking into addition ideas for our split entry home. Things we cannot live with currently: we NEED a garage and/or more storage space, and we do not like the cramped entryway with no mudroom. With a baby it has proven near impossible to easily move strollers and things in and out, and without a garage/storage, our space is quickly filling with gear. We've already done a ton of work on our house - I love my big kitchen, we've nearly finished the lower level. Our master has a tiny closet and I've love more than out 4.5' x 8' master bathroom. Our biggest problem is our hilly lot. We may have to settle for a detached garage, but how could we best add to the rear of the house? Or is it cheaper to perhaps add an entire floor on top of our existing main level? Also realizing a bump out in front would be needed to expand the entryway. It seems like we'd just need to buy a new house for all this....thoughts? We love our location.
