I don't know but am interested in what the pros say. My daughter's room has that kind of configuration, makes sense because the bed is in the middle of the windows. We just rearrange our master so that we have a tall bookcase between 2 windows, so I was thinking of doing something similar there.

Hi, I would keep them as is. I think the tie back is more traditional but maybe off trend and more old fashioned. Although, it is always about personal preference. Here is a similar style of furniture to yours and the tie backs are very subtle. I like the idea of the mirror and table lamp in between, so if it is possible, move the sofas to the other side of the room to allow for that window arrangement. This idea would also work if the drapes are left to hang.

Sorry, do not like the idea. What you are suggesting works well over the doorways, or on the narrow lonely window. Tell us more. Why is current placement does not work for you? Are you just tired of it? Does it look unfinished? In usual case I would just go with the placement you currently have, you can play with colors, fullness and design of curtains of course. What I would add is some sort of the shades, could be non operable shades too, to cover the upper trim of the window and the wall between the trim and the rod.

If you do one curtain per window, make sure they are hanging nicely, at the very least double the width of the window, and line them as well.

Keep them as they are and find a nice piece of art to hang on the wall between them. Center point of art 5' above the floor. Center your loveseat with the left window and replace your two low end tables with one square corner table to go between the sofas. It should arrive within 1" of the sofa arms. When you add a lamp to it the two pieces should measure 58-64"from the floor. What is left of the FP? That might be a better location for the TV.

IKEA has hardware for European-style ceiling-mounted curtains/drapes which attach to the ceiling tracks with plastic roller clips, making it easy to open up the windows or completely cover them whenever you wish. When such curtains are closed to cover the window the floor to ceiling curtains look very nice as suggested by KB Design.

The reason I was wanting to tie back with one panel was to allow for more light- I feel like the room is kind of dark during the afternoon once the sun is in the back of the house... There actually is a picture in between the Windows currently, just used a old picture from my phone. I will update once I get home to take another picture..

And for the ones who asked for the other side of fire place, I will attach a picture. If anyone has better suggestions for furniture placement I am open to try as well

If hung correctly, curtains should not really cover any of the window, so I can't believe they are cutting off light. Yours seem to be barely covering the side frames, which is good. For a tie-back single panel to look right it would need to be much fuller than your panels and cover more of the window, which equals less light.

Your darkness issue is that you don't have enough lighting. The ceiling fixture is what is known as ambient light - what you turn on in the dark to see how to get into the room. Once in, you turn it off and switch to table and floor lamps (known as task lighting) and then any accent lights, like the spot above the windows for accenting the art there. Task and accent lights add interest and warmth to a room, while most ceiling fixtures (especially fan lights) just wash out the features of a space.

I totally agree about turning off the overhead lighting. I would remove the window shades.....it will allow the light to come in....and you will not have those big expanses of white in the room. Get lined drapery panels( grommet top).....four for each window.....and then close them only at night. They will be nice and full.

Replace the fan with a white one without a fan light. Add a table lamp at the corner. Don't tie back the curtains Your curtains look fine.

I would suggest taking the drapery rods farther out on each window and getting fuller panels.no tie backs.
