Your space is a nice clean canvas to work with, so you can really do either! Subway tile tends to be a little more versatile design wise and offers an overall clean and timeless look. Glass, on the other hand, is going to make much more of a statement in your kitchen. Or you could consider incorporating a glass accent into your subway tile as seen here:

My counter top is silestone. My white or a creamy color.?

I'd find a showstopper tile I love and want to see every day, then use it! As neutral as your palette is, I'd use something light. I love the 2" X 8" subway tile format, as I think it's timeless, easy to clean, and most of all, I think the small format glass tiles are so over!

Either would likely work well in your space, if you don't want to commit to a bright white you could consider a creamier off white subway as shown. Regardless of which color you chose I would suggest keeping your backsplash light as it is rather dark under your cabinetry, and a light backsplash would offset your dark cabinets nicely as well.

What color scheme do you have going on around the house? Is your kitchen open to a dining or living space? Here are a couple more ideas if you would like to add glass into the mix. The top photo shows larger field tile cut down and the glass planks used as an accent.

A few more ideas to add some color. You don't have to stay with the bronze 1x1 tiles, but there are many options to choose some color to add to it.

This is what the other part of the house looks like. I would like to go more on the grey side for backsplash tile... I like the backsplash above picture.

Since you have some stone on the opposite side of your home, what do you think about continuing the trend? There is the thought of doing 3x12 handmade grey subways and accenting it with some linear stone. OR. just doing the linear stone all over since there are multiple colors.
