I have the same concern wtih my family room / kitchen open floor plan. I have dark cabinets in the family room and I'm remodeling my kitchen. I think I am going with a cream color or white with a glaze to pull in the brown from the family room. I think you might want to consider breaking up the cherry / dark look with a color that compliments rather than matches. Good luck!

Nothing like a photo to see what there is to see!! I would think to paint the cabinets (and those doors) and the island the creamy beige mentioned above. Would take off from the beautiful floor tiles. Great project. Even the stools could be painted the same or even, better yet, some pop.

You have nice depth to work with and if you want a fresh look use that white door color and have a built in buffet done in the same white with open shelves at top. it will look more crisp and modern

Also try to keep kitchen trash bin more out of sight

I would stick with cherry, I don't know if you intend to add actual kitchen cabinets, countertop, etc., but I will add an example pic. Keep what you have if it has been working well for you, Then just choose an area rug that blends it all together. I would continue with the cherry. For the white doors, I would replace them with a cherry finished door. Painting the doors the same color as the wall just doesn't say sophistication to me...but that's just me.

I would go with dark stain espresso color cabinetry glass doors on top, add some interest.

I would go with a cream painted cabinet with a glaze in the same style as your kitchen. you could have the island painted the same way. I like the idea of glass in the upper cabinets to showcase items and be sure to add light in the upper's
