thank you Cancork. at the moment there is nothing in the room accept red meat packing paper on the floor which may be making it worse than it is.

cool lighting is more blue.. would rhat make it worse?

Oh and my floors under the paper are a dark brown hard wood.

oh don't bother to change your bulbs til the pink paper is gone. that is surely the culprit.

nnigrt you are probably right. But since we have no furniture or decor yet are there certain colours I shoukd use to bring out the grey more?

just did my south facing dining room barren plain..and yes, it looks like lilac..my thoughts thst its the snow reflecting back into room..i have 4 large windows..at night, its a light gray..

i believe the lighting has a lot to do with it. A lot of lighting casts a yellow hue. My first try at gray was covering yellow walls. It honestly looked real purple until every bit of yellow was covered. I cried. When it was gone it was the perefect match to my couch. But there are also grays with a purple undertone. You'll only know when the paper on the floor is gone and lighting is changed if it's something you can live with.

im off to Lowes to get samples of the colors "i think" might work..looking to paint my living room thats open to the dining room- thats certainly a challege, needing something that doesnt have ANY undertones..lol. Did my kitchen Ashley Grey awhile back..how in the world does on do there complete downstairs in grays- still have to tackle the hallway..going nuts over here
