If the picture of the living room is what you aim for, the dining furniture as they are now above it will not suffice as they are very French country. It has too many curves to fit into modern. If you do want to re-use them in a modern setting, I suggest you paint the legs of the table a black / slate grey or even white and leave the table surface wood. This will help make it a bit more updated. For the chairs, you will need new cushions or remove them all together if the seats are in good standing. You might want to paint them too. that would at least get them a bit more into the white scheme you are going for.
