We are going to remodel our kitchen soon and we are even sooner going to be completely finishing our basement. We are going to get rid of all the carpet in our house (cats) and not sure about color. We love the dark brown weathered look and are thinking wood of some sort. We aren't sure if we should do the same flooring throughout or if we could do the lighter grayish colored wood flooring in the basement with the dark flooring on main floor and upstairs.

Should we stay away from wood in the basement? We've never had water issues in the basement.....
