Depends on the kitchen. Is it compact? Large? Ceiling height? Etc. etc. the big picture (literally) will help answer the question rather than a vague description.

At 30x 48 inches, your spacing is fine, but you would be much better with ONE slightly larger pendant ( 16 " ). . maybe one that sheds a bit more light as well.OR...........USE THREE and something much narrower. ( the second link 5 inches wide)

The pendants are perfect; the fact that they are translucent gives you a more open look. I like to place them 30" above the island and 30-36 apart. If you have a 30"-39" deep island top I would center the lights over the working area (usually 24" deep), not the eating bar section..

36 inches above the island ... Especially with a nearly nine foot ceiling. No head banging:)

I'd love to see a follow-up photo of these! I also have a small island (5 ft by 3ft) and am considering these same pendants. What would the spacing be for ours? I'd like them hung as high as possible as we are tall. But how far from edges? from each other?

I would center the two pendants 36" apart and 36 above counter top

i also like them centered over the work area, not the eating portion. So about 13 inches from the front of the working section.

No more than two in a 60 inch space. One recepticle box 15 inches in from each end of the island. There will be thirty inches between the boxes. DONE. That's all you need: )

No matter how tall you are, no higher than 36 inches, bottom of glass to counter and 72 inches from bottom of glass to floor.. No..........you WON'T hit your head.
