If you go with wood, we chose mahogany. We were told Trex tends to be hot in the sun.

It depends on your budget and what look you want to achieve. We always suggest a natural wood product because Trex like auntthelma said it does get hot during the summer. Out of all woods you can choose Ipe as its the densest and strongest wood available with minimal maintenance. A coat of oil to keep the color every year or two and just cleaning with mild soap and water will do the trick to maintain it. No water sealing and stripping needed.

If you do choose other woods just expect more maintenance with the yearly sealing and/painting that gets involved.
