Need advice on transitioning wood to tile

The main floor is an open concept layout and my color scheme is cream/brown/taupe. Mudroom is a step down and opens to an office, grey tiled bathroom, garage. I want to replace mud room and office flooring with tile

I had chosen a cream porceline tile. It seems a little stark and may not be appropriate for an office and mudroom. Would a slate tile with more color accents work better in the office and coordinate better with grey bathroom

You're keeping the wood it seems, and replacing 2 kinds of flooring? with 1.

Office has 1 window? Slate would be dark and require brighter lamps imo.

Can you post how much grey tile is in bathroom?

It's no more stark a contrast than typical beige wall to wall has been! But your option will cut off the floor visually. I've done that at a doorway - and seems your transition place isn't so obvious, or is it?

Are you repeating tile from cabinets? But counters are darker, and grey in bathroom - maybe a greige? which is still a soft look. How much do you like slate?
