I need help. I'm looking to build a casita, granny pad, guest house, whatever you want to call it, to move my Mom in. We have space in our house, but she wants her own space as she's worried she'll be bothersome. We have room to build on the property. I don't know if we should do an add on or a separate structure. There are easements, but each time I go to the city to discuss the contstraints of the easements I get different answers. Also, I like the prefab stuff I see, but this doesn't seem to be something that is readily available in my area. I met with a contractor last night who told me to build an 18x18 add on room with a bathroom will cost be about $110,000. I really need to meet with someone who is knowledgeable in the areas of my city of Huntington Beach, who understands the easements I have, who knows about pre fab, and who can design around the needs of my aging mother (ie handicap shower, no step ups, etc). Suggestions? Thanks -
