A good place to start is the wall color, you can open up and brighten the room by using white. Or you can use a medium warm gray to help bring out the color in the cabinets and bring together the cabinets and the floors, and to keep it from feeling drab, you can use it as an accent wall.

I forgot to say. Paint walls and replace backsplash. Suppose I have a beige room nearby and sea foam green draperies? Still gray?

stain cabinets black. Go with maybe a greenish grey wall color and stainless appliances

Paint color should be selected last. First, find your new counter top material. Then, decide on a backsplash. Then paint. You can't ignore the flooring color so, it looks like your color pallette will support the grey in the floor (can't tell if it is purple or green undertone). Also, I can't tell what the green horizontal stripe is across the top of the cabinets but, I would eliminate it. I would also install shelves between the pantry and the upper cabinet on that wall.

HI -- Wow, what some people do , well maybe it made sence for them.Get rid of everything that offends you right now . I would keep the cabinets and the counter tops and the layout of the kitchen looks good . Just prime over all the peach paint and then live with the place for a while , maybe as much as 6 months and see if it funchions for you. In that wait period you will find out what works for you and what doesn't . Also , that will give you time to plan your colors and so on. The worst thing about the room is that back splash - crazy !!. Making the house yours ,you will have many "why did they? " moments I'm sure . Congrats and good luck with your new house.

The kitchen cabinets are unique and I would hesitate to make any drastic changes to them. They look like good quality. However, a new backsplash would make a dramatic difference to the room. Open shelves would look great between the two cabinets above the wine cooler. Use them to store glasses.

Hi everybody! Thank you so much thus far for your comments and suggestions. I know Lefty. Amazing isn't it? Definitely will replace,with stainless appliances. I appreciate the ideas of waiting a while. I did not think about that. The granite is something I will replace because it is an ugly granite in this room. It might be better somewhere else. I thought about black granite. Did not think about a mantle. good idea! This is so nice hearing feedback. I sincerely appreciate it. Look forward to heating other ideas also.
