As RugKnots suggested your going to want to keep things neutral. i suggest you paint your walls light grey for mass appeal. also i would swap the red curtains for a blue or neutral color. lastly i would fill the spaces beside the fireplace with some decorative wood.

That is a super helpful picture Warren. I was planning to take down the curtains and just leave the blinds. I have cream couches and a deep red rug will they work with the grey? Any particular color choice you used for the photo shop?

2whitney you will definitely want to swap out the red rug for a neutral rug. i suggest a dark brown rug to compliment you furniture and ground the space. as for the paint, any light grey will work.
