1. The 25.25" one might not be so huge--according to our guide on light sizing, where you subtract 12 from the width of your table to find a good maximum size for a light to go over it, you're at 28" as a good maximum size for a light.

2. That drum pendant has a nice crisp classic look that goes with anything. Good choice! I don't think you will regret it in a year.

3. I'd suggest asking an electrician about using chain instead of downrods with this drum pendant before you buy it. You just want to make sure you can do it for sure before you spend the money!

Thanks, I wasn't going to use the chain instead of the rods, but I was going to just add a few inches of chain to the one link at the top to swag it from the fixture to a swag hook, then let the rods drop from there. ??

Without any pics of the space it's hard to say. So I would simply say in general ... that light fixture to me looks pretty simple and plain. If that's the kind of modern, simplistic look you're going for, then it should be fine, but I would think you could do something better. And it appears that it would not be the kind of fixture that you could swag over with links, you would need to reposition it to the correct new placement.

I'll try to load a pic later - I liked the clean lines of this drum, trying to get away from anything too trendy or overembellished, but I'd welcome other light ideas, so please post any ideas you have!
