Master bedroom in gray

Need help please. I'm designing our master bedroom, which was colored gray by the previous owner. I have a dresser and nightstand in dark cherry and a cream ottoman. Any thoughts about combining dark cherry and gray? Is it really bad? Any suggestion of what headboard and beddings that would match? I tried covering it with a cream blanket to see the effect but am not sure if i like it, or if I should just stick to white or go light brown or light blue...Confused. I need something that would not be so neutral, but would also make room lively. Thanks!

I personally love the gray, it goes really well with the dark cherry. As for the bed, I would do a light teal modern upholstered headboard with white on white bedding. Maybe some orange throw pillows, but they might clash with the dresser. I would change the hardware of the dresser to something more modern.

I'm not having trouble with the gray walls and the cherry furniture but I don't like the carpet color with either.

Do you want a gray bedroom?

Spend some time looking for a bedspread or comforter you absolutely love! Your bedroom is an extremely personal choice. Color, pattern, style, etc all come into play - wait until you look at something and your heart jumps! Then take it from there!

The reason it may look odd is that your rug is a warm color (sand), your gray walls are cool, your cherry furniture is actually more brown and that's a warm color, and your bedding is warm (beige). I prefer a room to be either all warm colors or all cool colors - then it has unity to it and it looks good. If you are keeping the room as is and just looking for bedding cover, try to go for a pattern that includes several colors in your room to add the liveliness that you are looking for. The book I like for colors is out of print but you can find it on Amazon - Color Me Beautiful by Carole Jackson. It's for skin tone, but I use it for interior decor as well.

Are you attached to the cherry finish? I have the same bedroom set in a guest room, and I used chalk paint so it better matches my color scheme.

It doesn't look bad, but if you don't like it, It's easier to change wall paint than all your furniture and bedding. Any reason why you aren't considering repainting?

Can I ask what brand if chalk paint was used for the cherry? i just might experiment on it.
I really liked the warm and cool colors concept. Now its making sense. Sadly though, we just had asked Lowes to change our carpet. Color is lighter brown and it is probably is still warm. Any carpet color that would fall as cool color???

This painting convinced me to keep the grey and cream carpet with the cherry cabinets in my office, and add a grey sofa. The cherry frame was picked by a framing professional and looks fantastic with the multiple grey tones.

I have seen cherry furniture against gray walls and I love the look! I'm having the same problem others are having--your carpet is too warm. That needs to be changed, not your furniture.

There are no issues with what you have now. You're off to a great start! I would buy an upholstered headboard in cream. Layer your bedding with textured neutrals. Lots of white with taupe and gray accents. You can still add an accent color if you want since you have all neutrals.

The carpet is not a mistake, just a matter of taste. Look through Houzz photos and you will see many rooms with tan carpet and gray walls.

To accent the grey walls in my room, I used floral and striped bedding with navy, light blue, green, and yellow with white accents. The duvet is bright white, and the crown moulding is white as well which accents the light grey walls and darker grey carpet. It's a nice, quiet sanctuary.
