Help with Timer Switch for Well Pump

I have installed two 120v timer switches for controlling my well pump and the clocks on both have burned out within 15 minutes of installation. The switches are Intermatic T101 SPST.
The circuit has a 20amp breaker on it and measures ~125v on a multimeter.
I have double and triple checked the wiring and can't understand why the clock motors burn out.
Any help appreciated.

The clock motors burn out or the contacts stop working? Are you sure you're connected to a 120V line and not some VFD output on the pump controller?
