I like the room with some blank walls and don't think you need much else.

For comforter you can try down alternative in a duvet and use your current one on top as a quilt. They make them for different seasons and you can get a lightweight one.

The pics of your room are just plain fun to look at. You need to do before and afters! I think once the decal arrives, the walls might be ok, as you do need some blank spaces for the eye to rest. I like the pillow on the bench!!

Thanks ladies! Let's just wait for that decal to get here. I still need to find pics for picture frames. Hubby got on me about that lastnight. Lol. I have seen some lightweight down alternative comforters I could try. Maybe I should ask hubby first if he'd mind a light one. Otherwise I'll get a wintry throw for myself.

In the mean time hubby built an indoor dog house. But no railing yet. Lol. Dog house is beautiful! Window and skylight cutouts. One of our dogs always sleeps upstairs in back bedroom in his cage. So we replaced cage with house. He has a memory foam bed made to fit on order. Etsy shop of course. I couldn't find a bed to fit interior dimensions properly.

Hubby is very proud of his dog house! He did a great job. Now to get him on that railing...Ugh. I just noticed the picture frame is sideways. Lol. That's a new silver one I picked up for nightstand...which needs a real picture still.

I have a hard time filling frames, too, as you want just the right ones. It will happen. You have been BUSY!

As I mentioned before my choice is a warm fluffy throw for the winter months.. gives a new look. I have a hot hubby too..lol On a road trip for a week. lots of nice throws out now.

Hubby is glad you all like the dog house. Lol. I've been looking for fluffy throws online and I also stopped at Dillard's today. Haven't looked anywhere else yet. Also looked at down alternative comforters. Lastnight we got in bed cold! Even hubby. Anyway, here are three different ones I saw today. All an ivory color. Not sure what color or style to use. First pic is a soft sherpa...on both sides. Second pic is a shag throw. And third is a heavy faux fur throw. And a pic of the bed I took the other day. Thanks!

Love the shag...so cozy looking! No to the faux fur as it has a pattern quite similar to your blue coverlet.Like ivory color.

S Mistry, I would just use this throw during cold months and the current one on bed for the other.

Could save the current one for spring and summer.

Hi ladies! I've picked up a shag throw to try in bedroom. This is just being used for the cold months. Thoughts on how it looks? Should I lay across bed instead of corner? Or maybe it doesn't matter. This one came from Pier1. Not the one I saw at Dillards. One thing I'm not liking is it's shedding. And dry clean only(which I can live with). If we like it and I keep....and thoughts on how to help with the shedding stage? Maybe throw in dryer on cool? It is a little thicker than the one from Dillards I had posted. The last pic is the one I saw in Dillards. They're pretty similar.

I like the casual look of the throw draped like it is now on the end of the bed. Looks perfect! The other one could even be folded and put at the edge of the bench, with part of it under the lumbar????? Not sure.

Shedding.....oh, my! Hate to vacuum a throw! I would think a good shake outside and the dryer would really help with that. OR call the store and ask them for suggestions. Maybe you just got a bad one????

Yes try draped across bottom for a look.Cool dryer to see if it helps... if still shedding exchange. When getting another give it a little petting before purchase.. Lol

Hi ladies! I put the throw in dryer today and it seems to be doing much better with the shedding. So we will see! Here it is laid across front of bed like Lainie suggested. I just bunched it up a little. I think my wall decal will be here any day now! Happy Halloween!

Finally back home .. covered about 3000 km in a week... with a bit of retail therapy everyday...lol. Got home just in time to give out the Halloween treats.

Throw looks great. It's quite like mine except a bit shorter shag.On a chilly night I just fold it over in half & use it all for myself.

Wondering how it would look if the sheet was only turned down as far as the nest pillow.

Hi laides! I'm sorry I had no idea I missed two comments. Hope you all had a great Halloween! I'm liking the throw alot. It's no longer shedding and it's already been put to good use. I like idea of turning sheet down just to the our nest pillow.

Anyway, I came on to tell you I FINALLY received the wall decal! It did come with instructions but I feel a little confused or nervous about placing on wall. I think I rub the decal until it sticks good on top cover(sticky one) and then remove the paper back before placing on wall. Here is a pic I've posted before of the area taped off. I'm thinking still place it in that area. I'll hang it with tape first to check it. The birds are for trial I believe.

Also, I think hubby and I would like to start working on family room. I know holidays are coming but maybe we can at least get furniture placement and a new tv stand etc. before Christmas. We also want to paint fireplace, new fireplace door and mantel...etc. Are you all gamed? If so, I'll get take the pics and make a post most likely tomorrow...then post link here. I've been thinking about it for a couple weeks.

Well, for family room I was thinking we could at least get a start on some ideas and furniture arrangement. Take it slooow through holidays. It's an odd setup. But yes we will all need a HOUZZ break when and if we have time for a break. Lol.

My cousin & his fiancee are restoring our great grandfather's house. I have been helping her with furniture placement. Yesterday we had a fun day arranging the Christmas decor. Seems a bit early but her daughter (only child) will be visiting in 2 weeks. She only gets to see her about 4 times per year so having the celebration early.

On Dec. 4th we will all be going on a local Christmas house tour (includes 4 houses) where we will see the houses nicely decorated. Each year it is held in a different community .. raising money for charity. Have been going for close to 20 years.

So nice time with family.

The wall decal is finally up!! I read instructions and watched videos. It took me awhile but it's up and looks great. Better than in pics. I'll get hubby to hang mirror this week or weekend. What a long wait that was for it to come! First pic is taken straight on from bed.

I did take pics of our family room today but haven't made the post yet. If I get time tonight, I'll do. Otherwise, tomorrow for sure. I wanted to have it up today. But you know how that goes. I'm glad we're all on board...I need you all.

If there are no tours in your area maybe you could round up some nearby friends to join you to create a tour in your community.

Usually there are 4 to 5 houses involved according to if they are close enough together to allow time for the visitors to view all houses in the allotted time ( usually about 3 to 3.5 hours (1 to 4:00 or 4:30) An afternoon tea is included in the ticket price ($10) which is held at a local hall. Volunteers make sandwiches & sweets to go with the tea /coffee. All funds raised go to charity of your choice.

Some homes are filled to the brim with decor but I prefer those that have a minimum of Christmas decor which lets the beauty of the home shine.

Being seasoned House tour visitors we have found that instead of going to the tea after all houses have been viewed we do half the houses, then have tea & view the remainder. If you wait till the end there is too much of a crowd at the tea so may have quite a wait .

Lainie, yes I'm considering putting some Christmas decor in bedroom. You had mentioned it awhile back. I've seen some items in store I like. I'm waiting to pull all my Christmas out to see what I have. I'm doing my mantel different this year so may have some things from that to use.

I really like that Christmas tour idea and that it's for charity. I haven't had a chance to look online to see if we have anything like that around here. It sounds fun!
