Calling all Lighting Pros - please assist!

Still in need of advice if anyone sees this post that can help!

Are you putting can lights in your ceiling? Pendant lights are more for ambient light, not task lighting. If you don't want to lose the sight lines to the family room, skip the pendants over the cook island. What kind of ventilation are you going to have over the cooktop? Wouldn't that interfere with pendant lighting?

We will have can lights as well. Down draft ventilation w gas cook top, not doing hood. Have thought 4 of same light fixture as well - 2 over cook top island and 2 over dining table island?

I think it all depends on how big the area is and the layout. It could start looking like a lighting showroom if you aren't careful.

Yes, worried it will be tacky if not carefully chosen!
