I would take out the shrubs in the front and do some more colorful landscaping. Maybe paint the front door to make it pop. White shutters would look nice and possibly window boxes with some flowers.

Your house is lovely, landscaping would make it more appealing. You could leave the palms and plant some under planting. Use lots of solar lights especially shining up on the palms. I would clear the hedge in front of your house

Thank you everyone! So far these are great tips. I definitely love the landscaping ideas and the solar lighting is an excellent idea. What does anyone think about painting the shutters black? Or should we leave them white?

Removing the hedge in front of windows would definitely open up front. The large bushes in front circle need to be either trimmed or removed. Add some new smaller shrubs. Don't touch the palms.
One thing that detracts is the irregular edge of driveway. Maybe it is more pronounced in picture than in person. It looks rather randomly installed. I don't know how to fix that other than suggesting planting small boxwood along edge. Maybe a paver edging?
I personally would remove the shutters entirely since your windows are so attractive.
Basically you have a beautiful house, just needs a few tweaks to be perfect.

Paint the shutters the same color as the windows. Increase the size of the wall lanterns at the garage.

All these posters are giving you landscape advice, but none seem to live in S. Florida. Lots of that advice is well meaning but not suitable.

Here are plants suitable for your island including the colorful bromeliads. The nice thing about bromeliads is that once planted, they require no attention. They will jsut grow and spread.

These plants would do well on the island, White Bird of Paradise, ginger, and bromedliads.

Yes, landscaping updated will help tremendously, as will edging the driveway in pavers, etc. However, I'm not sure about the brick & tile roof combo . . . tile roof is Spanish, while brick & shutters are traditional. Perhaps have the brick slurried to give it an almost stucco look, but much softer. Or even paint the brick, and change to shutters to a more Spanish/rustic style. Post "after" pics!

drive doesn't need paver edge, just needs to have a mechanical edger run along the edges to remove excess grass.
