Need help choosing cabinet doors

We are getting custom natural cherry cabinets made and need to order the doors this week. My husband has a more traditional style and we are trying to find something that works for both of us. I want to make sure we aren't spending all this $ to end up with a dated look on our cabinets. Right now we have selected these and I'm having second thoughts. I would go for shaker but my husband really wants solid and doesn't wanted the center to be even a thin solid piece. He thinks this style will be more durable around kids.

Will the right hardware make these look more modern? We are going for a transitional eclectic look overall. The other question is what kind of hardware? The rest of our house has oil rubbed bronze on fixtures and door knobs but our appliances are stainless......Thank you for your help!!!!

Shaker style is classic and fits with any style . If your children are likely to destroy your kitchen, they need behavioral intervention.

That door is lovely but I would say it is traditional. ORB would look great on them.

I'll happily take suggestions for a different cabinet door. If this won't work to provide the look we both want he is flexible. These are his first choice but he also wants a fresh look he just leans towards wood and solidly built things

These are modern cabinets. Is this what you are asking about?
If his taste is traditional I can't see him accepting this style.

Funny but the style he chose is the least durable. It is a mitered door which is built with a biscuit rather then wood joinery. Worst if you were getting a painted finish as they always split at the seam and crack the finish.

I would go with the solid and euro frameless as updating or changing would be easy. The new trend is flat doors with and a formica type overlay. They will outlast your kids grandkids but you have to like the style.
