Spots on stainless steel cooktop

We have a new Thermador stainless steel cooktop and I have no problems cleaning the surface with soap and water ... But I cannot get rid of these spots around the burners. I used Weiman stainless steel cleaner and polish and it covers the spots but they end up coming back after I cook. Any ideas?
