You definitely need less furniture and more color! Warm colors will make your room much cozier than having all black. Reds, yellows, oranges, and purples would really help warm up the room.

There's too much too fat furniture. The seats of more tailored furniture are just as big.

Could you please post a couple more pictures to give the idea of door/arch location. It's hard to suggest arrangements without knowing the traffic pattern.

4" LED recessed lights (2700K) in ceiling

Be sure to paint ceiling a flat white and walls a matte finish. It's currently too glossy and has a "commercial" feel. Also, paint the moldings white, not stained as shown in pic.

I agree with the other comments on the amount of furniture.

Be sure to isolate the lighting circuit in front of the TV so you can still have lights on in the basement but not have them glaring on the TV screen.

Definitely a floating laminate wood floor will warm the space nicely.

You can't cozy black leather. It gives off a bar-lounge effect. If you can sell it, do so and replace with one sofa and one chair in a fabric.

To warm it up, follow the suggestions above. Also, wood not glass for your coffee table (or an ottoman), a larger rug, and art.

Yes laminate in basement floor would work nicely, do a medium tone wood. And leather can be cozy, it depends on what you pair it with. We have a small leather sectional in our vacation home and it's a log cabin. Fabric gets dirty fast specially if it's for tv watching with kids. A honey brown leather is nice, just have to look for it

Too much furniture. Remove the loveseat and maybe the chair too. Softer looking and larger area rug. Wood floor, soft textured pillows, different coffee table - could be ottoman or wood...something that has a more relax and put your feet up feeling. And what's with all the electrical cords?
