I would perhaps swing the white couch out so the back is parallel to the window, then place the sofa table behind the couch.

Is adding more furniture to this room an option? You have a very large room and a lot of open floor space that's making it kind of akward. One thing I'd do right away is move the coat rack to the opposite wall, directly across from the door. This might bring a bit more balance as it's a heavy piece. I'd also move the couch parallel to the window and move the sofa table behind it. I think a larger coffee table might help, and then angling the chairs with the round table between them. You just may need a few more pieces to fill out the space. Consider creating another seating area, maybe with the feel of a reading nook? I hope that helps!

How about a chaise/reading lamp under the window? Like this, but the arm on the other side.

We have almost the exact living room? Same entry door, long room and you have to walk through the living to get to dining. I understand that it is really a dilemma to decorate! The only main difference is that our fireplace is located on the wall with your double window. Creating two distinct areas in a long living room works best. We created a reading area on far end of the room. What if you moved both of your leather chairs there so that they face each other? Get a love seat and place it so that it runs parallel to the long sofa (makes an L). This will help divide the room but still leave enough space to walk around to enter the dining room. What is on the wall to the left of your television?

HI jensmith727. I like kbeasley's recommendation to place the sofa perpendicular to the door wall. This will probably mean that the lovely round table will no longer fit next to the sofa, so put both of the recliners in front of the window where the sofa was setting and use the table between them. Add a floor lamp to the left side of the sofa (as you face it), where the table used to be, used in conjunction with your garden bench accent table. Move the sofa table either behind the sofa, as Stacy Smith has suggested or simply slide it down the wall, nearer the arch leading to the dining room, depending on space and traffic requirements. Flip the hall tree to the opposite wall. Now, add the chaise that Darzy recommended beneath the window opposite the new sofa location. If floor space precludes the chaise, try a bench. Last: add a pair of modestly scaled, exposed wood chairs with a table between them in front of the "foyer window", creating a secondary seating area. Further define the foyer by adding a smaller co-ordinated area rug to anchor this grouping.
