Looks like a chitalpa. Not a common selection for this area.

thank you! It was doing quite well, looked healthy and lovely. May try to get some seed and start one. I have never seen them in a nursery here.

Seattle properties have multiple attractive, long-established examples of both pink and white forms. Long summer bloom is a more or less unique feature among hardy deciduous trees. Local independent garden centers had them for a time and then they stopped being seen here, for the most part. Tend to have poor branching and foliage mildew in garden center sizes and conditions - this ugly duckling syndrome may have been their undoing right there.

Not sure these very often, if ever produce viable seeds - you may have to order a plant instead.
